Whittington To Stand At Grandview Stud

Thursday, 26th March 2015

Grandview Stud in conjunction with the Whittington Syndicate QLD have announced that 4YO stallion Whittington will stand at Grandview Stud in Queensland this season at the introductory fee of $8,000 plus GST. By Tale of the Cat out of Tasmanian Oaks winner Maha Chakri (Beautiful Crown), Whittington was a brilliant winner of the 2012 Listed Breeders' Plate (1000m) on debut and was also placed in the Listed Heritage Stakes (1100m). Hitherto he has won 3 of his 14 starts for over $300,000 prize money. "We have had people approach us in the past to stand stallions and we knocked them back as our plan was to one day get a stallion but he needed to be a horse we thought suited the market and that we would want to support ourselves. This horse ticked all the boxes and we think he is the ideal horse for the rejuvenated QLD market," said Grandview principal Michael Grieve. With a potent mix of early 2YO speed and type, Grieve said Grandview was very excited to have secured Whittington as its foundation stallion.  Whittington is now under the care of multiple group one winning trainer John Thompson and will be raced on for his new connections and aimed at major sprint races over the QLD winter carnival.
