April Open Day For Grenville Stud
Tasmania's Grenville Stud will open its doors to visitors on April 18, from 11am to 2pm. The parade is an opportunity to view Grenville's new stallion acquisition Mawingo who will be standing alongside Cardinal Virtue for 2015. Mawingo is the first international Gr1 winner to stand in Tasmania and is considered an exciting addition for the Tasmanian thoroughbred breeding industry. Purchased by Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock, the German-bred son of Tertullian was a Gr3 winner of the Munich Bavarian Classic (2000m) as a three-year-old who went on to provide Australian trainer Anthony Freedman with Gr1 success in the 2012 BRC Doomben Cup (2000m). Mawingo also finished runner-up in 2013's Gr1 C.F. Orr Stakes (1400m) behind brilliant young Vinery sire All Too Hard before placing in 2013's prestigious Gr1 Singapore Airlines International Cup (2000m). Standing alongside Elusive Quality's Gr1-placed Cardinal Virtues, Mawingo will be standing at Grenville in 2015 for a fee of $4,400. Both horses will be paraded and Grenville Stud has donated a service fee to Mawingo for the 2015 breeding season which will be given away during the stallion parade.
