High Hopes For Rising Romance

Friday, 27th March 2015

It would be unfair to describe Rising Romance (Ekraar-Post Romance, by Postponed) as a victim of fashion but her trainer Donna Logan uses an intriguing analogy to describe the solution to a minor setback leading into Saturday's Gr1 The BMW (2400m) at Rosehill, reports NZ Racing Desk. The Australian Oaks winner was narrowly beaten in last weekend's Gr3 Epona Stakes and was found to have a bruised heel after the race: "She just had some bruising on a heel. We've moved her plate and taken pressure off the area and she's a lot better… It's like wearing stilettos all day at the races and then being able to get back home and kick them off. There's no better feeling and that would be much the same for her." Caulfield Cup runner-up Rising Romance will be having her fourth run this campaign after a dazzling first-up win over Sports Illustrated at Ellerslie and a narrow defeat at the hands of Sakhee's Soldier in the Gr1 New Zealand Stakes prior to her Epona run. Tim Clark replaces jockey James McDonald for The BMW with the champion Kiwi hoop booked to ride the Godolphin 4YO Hartnell. Rising Romance will jump from barrier 10 in a star-studded field that includes Melbourne Cup winner Protectionist, Japanese raider To The World, star Kiwi mares Silent Achiever and Lucia Valentina, and Kiwi stayers Whoshot The Barman and Fast Dragon. Safely through Saturday's race, Rising Romance will head to the $1.6 million Gr1 Sydney Cup (3200m) at Randwick on 11 April.
