Monday, 30th March 2015

At Rosehill Gardens in Sydney, triple Gr1-winning Darley shuttler Dubawi (Dubai Millennium-Zomaradah, by Deploy) added a Group success when 5YO mare Catkins (Dubawi-Salix Caprea, by Catbird) scored by 1.8-lengths for trainer Chris Waller in the $175,000 Gr2 Emancipation Stakes (1500m) for 3YO+ f&m, over 4YO mares Amanpour (Northern Meteor-Newscaster, by Marscay) & Gypsy Diamond (Not a Single Doubt-Gypsy Tucker, by Zabeel). Catkins took her record to 15 wins (including the Gr2 Millie Fox Stakes, Gr2 Thoroughbred Breeders Classic - twice, Gr2 Emancipation Stakes, Gr3 Sheraco Stakes, Gr3 Wiggle Stakes, Gr3 Eliza Park International Stakes, Gr3 Sportingbet Sprint Stakes, Listed PJ Bell Stakes & Listed Fireball Handicap) & 11 placings (including the Gr1 Canterbury Stakes, Gr1 Coolmore Classic, Gr1 Myer Classic, Gr2 Blazer Stakes, Gr2 Let's Elope Stakes & Listed James HB Carr Stakes) from 31 starts for $1,684,310 earnings. Catkins was an $85,000 purchase for Ingham Racing at the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Amarina Farm. Trainer Chris Waller says that he will give Catkins her chance to win an elusive Gr1 in either the All Aged Stakes or Queen Of The Turf Stakes at her next start. "The All Aged Stakes is against the boys and the Queen Of The Turf is against the girls so I guess it  depends what we are up against," Waller told Sky Racing. "The favourite is the Queen Of The Turf. It is part of the Championship day and its worth a million dollars."
