Rising Romance Over Hoof Complaint
Rising Romance (Ekraar-Post Romance, by Postponed) is likely to run in the Gr2 Chairman's Handicap (2600m) at Royal Randwick on Saturday as she builds towards the Sydney Cup (3200m) on the final day of The Championships, reports NZ Racing Desk. The star Kiwi mare was a late withdrawal from Saturday's Gr1 The BMW due to a hoof issue but Chris Gibbs, travelling foreman for trainer Donna Logan, says she is now over the slight setback. "She had bruising in that hoof which had just got on top of her a little bit and we decided in the end that it would be in her best interest to scratch her from the BMW," Gibbs told theinformant.co.nz yesterday. "But she seems fine now, she's back on track and we're happy with her progress. We're confident that we can still get her to the Sydney Cup and we're tentatively looking at the Chairman's Handicap this Saturday as a lead-up. We'll get a better line on her when we gallop her in company with Volkstok'n'barrell tomorrow (Tuesday), but that's what we're looking at at this stage." He added, "There's also the option of saving her and freshening her for the Queen Elizabeth Stakes, but the Sydney Cup is our preferred target."
