Srikandi On Track For Winter Carnival

Tuesday, 31st March 2015

Talented racemare Srikandi (Dubawi-Raining, by Hurricane Sky) took another step in her preparation for a Brisbane winter carnival campaign when finishing sixth in a 1040m barrier trial behind Politeness at Geelong yesterday, reports racing.com. Srikandi, a winner of 6 of her 8 starts, has not been seen since finishing third behind River Lad and Temple Of Boom in last year's Gr1 Stradbroke Handicap. Trainer Ciaron Maher said Srikandi  would resume over 1200m at the Gold Coast on ANZAC Day before progressing to the Gr1 sprint treble of the BTC Cup (1200m),  Doomben 10,000 (1350m) and Stradbroke Handicap (1350m). "She had a good blow afterwards and the jockey didn't put any pressure on her," Maher said of the trial. "She seems in good order, she's just had a couple of soft trials at this stage and she'll probably have another trial next week."
