Suavito Closer To Doncaster Start

Tuesday, 31st March 2015

Gr1-winning mare Suavito (Thorn Park-Queen Cha Cha, by High Chaparral) looks likely to sneak into Saturday's Doncaster Mile field following the withdrawal of the Joe Pride-trained Laser Hawk, reports racingandpsorts.com.au. Suavito, undefeated this campaign with wins in the Gr1 Futurity Stakes and Gr2 Blamey Stakes, was precariously positioned in the order of entry for the $3 million autumn feature but now seems almost assured of a start. Trainer Nigel Blackiston said former Sydney-based jockey Corey Brown, who now rides in Singapore, has been booked to ride the 4YO who will carry just 50kg in the Doncaster. "Our goal has always been to have a crack at the Doncaster and with the light weight it wasn't looking very likely but now it's hopefully all falling into place," the Flemington trainer said. Suavito will depart for Sydney on Wednesday night. "She'll have her last piece of work on Tuesday morning galloping in the Sydney direction and that will do her nicely leading into Saturday," said Blackiston.
