Legatissimo Wins Gr1 Nassau Stakes

Monday, 3rd August 2015

At Glorious Goodwood in the UK, former Coolmore shuttler Danehill Dancer (Danehill-Mira Adonde, by Sharpen Up) celebrated a Gr1 success when 3YO filly Legatissimo (Danehill Dancer-Yummy Mummy, by Montjeu) scored by 2.25-lengths for trainer David Wachman in the Gr1 Nassau Stakes (10 furlongs), over fellow fillies Wedding Vow (Galileo-Remember When, by Danehill Dancer) & Arabian Queen (Dubawi-Barshiba, by Barathea). Racing in the familiar orange and blue silks of the Coolmore triumvirate of Michael Tabor, Derrick Smith, and Susan Magnier, Legatissimo took her record to 4 wins (including the Gr1 1,000 Guineas) and 3 placings (including the Gr1 Epsom Oaks and Gr1 Pretty Polly Stakes) from 9 starts for $746,811 earnings. "She's a wonderful filly and has loads of class," trainer David Wachman told Sky Sports. "She has a very high cruising speed and quickens well off it. Ten furlongs or a mile is made for her." He added: "She has a lot of options, she could go for the Matron [Gr1], she could go anywhere, there's plenty of good races for those fillies and mares." The Gr1 Matron Stakes (8 furlongs) will be run at Leopardstown on 12 September.
