Rabada Wins Gr1 Premier's Champion Stakes

Monday, 3rd August 2015

At Greyville in South Africa, 3YO colt Rabada (Brave Tin Soldier-Jordie, by Fard) announced himself as the rising star of South African racing when scoring by 0.75-length for trainer Mike Azzie in the R600,000 Gr1 Premier's Champion Stakes (1600m), over fellow 3YO colts Prospect Strike (Toreador-Prospect Fever, by Mr. Prospector) & Abashiri (Go Deputy-Donya, by Elliodor). The unbeaten Rabada took his record to 3 wins (including the Listed Gatecrasher Stakes) from 3 starts for just over R500,000 earnings. Note: The Gold Cup meeting was postponed to Saturday 1st August due to heavy rains the weekend prior. Hence, although Rabada is now a 3YO the Premier's Champion Stakes is usually run in the final week of July for 2YO colts and geldings.
