Hawkes Maiden Unlikely To Stay So For Long

Wednesday, 5th August 2015

At yesterday's Geelong meeting south-west of Melbourne, the powerful Hawkes stable was left with runner-up prize money when $1.40 favourite Vicious missed by a whisker over 1100m in the day's second event. The consolation is that the gelded 3YO son of Widden sire Niconni out of Sheeznodoubt won't stay a maiden for very long. Giving the leaders a very handy start turning for home, Vicious rattled home with a paralysing sprint and appears headed for an exciting future. Raced by a large collection of owners, Vicious races in the familiar colours of Eales Racing, perhaps best known for being carried by Australian Cup/Melbourne Cup winner and now emerging Rich Hill Stud sire Shocking.
