Valuable Stonestreet Stables Debutante On Show Today
Carrying a moniker redolent of one of Australia's leading wine regions, valuable 3YO filly Kangarilla Joy (Lonhro-Midnight Joy, by Zeditave) could provide leviathan US owner Barbara Banke's Stonestreet Stables with another great taste of Australian racing at this afternoon's Warwick Farm meeting in Sydney. The name is highly appropriate for the owner of powerhouse American wine company, Jackson Family Wines, which is listed as the owner of an Australian wine estate on South Australia's Kangarilla Road. Considered one of the world's most astute owners – she campaigned recently retired boom US 3YO Carpe Diem – Banke's foray into the Australian market is an exciting addition to the ownership ranks of Australia, and one which has already paid dividends: Gr1 Blue Diamond heroine Miracles Of Life, for which Banke paid $900,000 at the Magic Millions Teeley Assets Dispersal Sale in 2014, won last May's Gr1 Robert Sangster Stakes for her new owner. A $840,000 yearling consigned by Turangga Farm at 2014's Inglis Easter Sale, Kangarilla Joy has drawn poorly on her debut for Team Snowden after showing sound trial form, and she should improve on whatever she does today.
