Pedigree Tip For Flemington Meeting

Friday, 7th August 2015

At tomorrow's Flemington meeting in Melbourne, the key action takes place in the Gr3 Aurie's Star Handicap down the straight six where classy sprinter Shiraz has usurped top weight Trust In A Gust in betting markets. With gun jockey Damian Oliver riding Shiraz, turf investors could do worse than also follow him in an earlier event on the card. In Race 4 Oliver pilots Abbasso, a horse that on pedigree alone is a strong pick. By former champion sire Encosta de Lago, Abbasso is out of exceptional broodmare Marooned Lady, whose other offspring include triple Gr1 winner Special Harmony, Gr2 winners King Canute & Redwoldt, and Gr2-placed Singapore galloper Jabal Tarik. Abbasso has already earned connections over $300,000 in prize money, and will give this a big shake for trainer Chris Waller after winning his past two starts. At current odds the all up is $8.30.
