Logan Considering Options For Volkstok'n'barrell

Wednesday, 12th August 2015

New Zealand trainer Donna Logan says she is leaning towards Caulfield as the preferred starting venue for her stable star Volkstok'n'barrell, but only just, reports NZ Racing Desk. The Ruakaka trainer said she was yet to decide whether the Gr1 winner would kick off his 4YO campaign in Australia in the Gr1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) on 29 August or in the Gr1 Makfi Challenge Stakes at Hastings on the same day. "It's still up in the air, we are looking a bit more toward the Memsie Stakes. It's hard to say at the moment with the weather and the tracks, but we are geared up for either option." Rosehill Guineas winner Volkstok'n'barrell finished second in a 1000m trial at Ruakaka at the start of this month and he will have another outing at his home meeting today. "He'll have an exhibition gallop and a race day appearance will help to tighten him up," Logan said. "I'm very pleased with him and he's coming along well."
