Memsie First-Up For Amorino

Wednesday, 12th August 2015

Trainer Archie Alexander is hoping that rejuvenated galloper Amorino can make his presence felt at Gr1 level when he resumes in the Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on 29 August, reports the West Australian. The much travelled son of Snitzel, who began his career in Sydney under Gerald Ryan before joining the WA stable of Grant Williams, won three of his four starts last preparation highlighted by stakes victories in the Gr3 TAB Rewards Stakes (1400m), Listed March Stakes (1400m) & Listed Anniversary Vase (1400m). Owner Elio Galante is looking forward to the 6YO returning to the track and says he will trial within the week. "All going well and if he trials well, he'll go to the Memsie," Galante said. "He loves the 1400 and loves Caulfield." He added: "I really want to give him an opportunity to win a Group 1 and that will tell us where we head for the rest of his preparation. Archie's happy with him and we're expecting another good preparation from him." Galante said that the $1 million Gr1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) at Flemington in November was Amorino's primary spring target.
