Sargent Happy With Kirramosa & Gust Of Wind
Trainer John Sargent has provided an update on his stable stars Kirramosa and Gust Of Wind. VRC Oaks winner Kirramosa resumes at Rosehill on Saturday in the Fairfield RSL Club Handicap (1200m) and Sargent says he is expecting a bold showing despite the unsuitable trip. "I'm very happy with her," Sargent told RSNs Shane Anderson yesterday. "She's working like a young horse actually. She's only had a handful of starts including the Wakeful-Oaks double...it will be a bit short for her but she'll be hitting the line strong." He added: "I think she will run a nice race fresh at a price." Meanwhile, Sargent said that Australian Oaks winner Gust Of Wind would resume on Saturday week as she embarks on a spring campaign aimed at the Melbourne Cup. "I'm really happy with her. She looks like a 5YO mare and she will have to if she is going to progress to races like the Melbourne Cup," Sargent told RSN radio. "She'll kick off next Saturday in either the Warwick Stakes of the Toy Show Quality. Both races will be short of her best but I'm lucky that she's qualified for the Melbourne Cup so she will just potter along so she is peaking in November." He added: "The fillies haven't gone from three to four and progressed in the last four or five years to be a threat in the spring but the way she spelled and has come back hopefully this one will. She's like a big English stayer and I haven't had a horse like this for a long time."
