Dubawi Adds France Gr2

Monday, 17th August 2015

At Deauville in France, Darley's three-time Gr1-winning world-class former shuttler Dubawi (Dubai Millennium-Zomaradah, by Deploy) added a Group success when 3YO UK-bred colt New Bay (Dubawi-Cinnamon Bay, by Zamindar) scored by 1.5-lengths for trainer Andre Fabre in the €400,000 Gr2 Prix Guillaume d'Ornano (10 furlongs) for 3YOs, over 3YO French-bred colts Dariyan (Shamardal-Daryakana, by Selkirk) & Ampere (Galileo-Amorama, by Sri Pekan). New Bay took his record to 3 wins (including the Gr1 Prix du Jockey Club) and 2 placings (including the Gr1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains) from 5 starts. Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager for owner Khalid Abdullah, indicated New Bay may have a short break before returning for his final Arc prep in the Prix Niel at Longchamp on 13 September. "Let's see how he is, but I would think he might have one more race before the Arc in the Prix Niel," Grimthorpe said. "The horse showed good acceleration today and his drift in the closing stages is probably part of the learning process."
