Jazzi Top Wins Gr2 Prix De La Nonette
At Deauville in France overnight, former Coolmore shuttler Danehill Dancer (Danehill-Mira Adonde, by Sharpen Up) added a Group success when 3YO filly Jazzi Top (Danehill Dancer-Zee Zee Top, by Zafonic) scored by 1.25-lengths for trainer John Gosden in the Gr2 Prix De La Nonette (10 furlongs) for 3YO fillies, over fellow fillies Holy Moly (Mount Nelson-Nolas Lolly, by Lomitas) & Sainte Amarante (Le Havre-Loyal Lass, by Cadeaux Genereux). This was a brilliant return to form by the beautifully bred Jazzi Top who had been desperately unlucky at her previous start in the Gr1 Nassau Stakes at Goodwood when denied clear running several times in the straight. The Meon Valley Stud owned and bred filly took her record to 3 wins (including the Listed Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket) and 2 placings from 7 starts. Winning jockey Frankie Dettori said he believes Jazzi Top has the ability to success at the elite level. "She has been working well and she never got a run in the Nassau or else she would have got a lot closer," he said. "On that performance I think she would be very competitive in a Group 1. Maybe next year she would get further but a mile and a quarter this year is right. We tried it in the Oaks and she didn't see it out, but she wasn't as good then as she is now." Jazzi Top is out of Gr1 Prix de l'Opera winner Zee Zee Top, a direct descendant of Reprocolor, one of the foundation mares of the Weinfeld family's Meon Valley Stud in England. This is also the family of Australian Gr2 winners Leebaz and Polish Knight, as well as European Classic winners Cezanne, Colorspin, Kayf Tara and Opera House.
