VIC HOTY Finalists Announced

Racing Victoria has announced the five finalists for the 2015 Victorian Racehorse of the Year Award, reports Racing.com.

The award, which will be presented at the Scobie Breasley Medal on Sunday night, takes into account performances on Victorian tracks only during the 2014-15 racing season. The five finalists are:

  • Adelaide - 1 start, 1 win (1 x Group 1 - Cox Plate);
  • Brazen Beau - 4 starts, 2 wins (2 x Group 1 - Newmarket Handicap, Coolmore Stud Stakes), 1 second;
  • Dissident - 7 starts, 3 wins (3 x Group 1 - Memsie Stakes, Makybe Diva Stakes, CF Orr Stakes), 1 second, 2 thirds;
  • Lankan Rupee - 6 starts, 2 wins (2 x Group 1 - Lightning Stakes, Manikato Stakes), 2 seconds, 1 third; and
  • Protectionist - 4 starts, 1 win (1 x Group 1 - Melbourne Cup).

The winner will be the horse who tallies the most votes from a 50-person group comprising members of the racing media, Victoria's five racecallers, the RV handicapping panel and RV's Chairman of Stewards.
