Night Of Thunder Retired To Stud
Top-class UK galloper Night Of Thunder (Dubawi-Forest Storm, by Galileo) has been retired to stud. The 4YO, who beat both Kingman and Australia in last year's English 2,000 Guineas, will take up stud duties at Sheikh Mohammed's Darley Stud next season. Speaking on his website, trainer Richard Hannon said: "Racehorses like him don't come along every day. I've said it plenty of times before, but he really was the perfect package as he had that all important mixture of speed and determination. A mixture that saw him beat one of the strongest fields I can remember in last year's Guineas." According to Hannon, Night Of Thunder, who retires with 4 wins from 11 starts with Gr1 victories in the 2,000 Guineas and Lockinge Stakes, has all the attributes to make it as a stallion. "I look forward to seeing his first foals when they arrive," he said. "Being by Dubawi out of a Galileo mare, he has plenty going for him in his new role as a stallion. He is perfect for the job."
