Plenty Of Options For Fell Swoop
Canberra trainer Matthew Dale has provided an update on his promising sprinter Fell Swoop who is set to run in a Benchmark 85 race over 1000m at Randwick on Saturday. The 4YO has shown well above average ability winning 5 of his 7 starts to date, and Dale is hoping he can continue his progression through the grades following his impressive victory at Rosehill two weeks ago. "I'm very happy with him. He's progressing nicely," Dale told Melbourne radio station RSN yesterday. "He's come through the race really well. He's eating really well and has done a couple of nice pieces of work. I'm happy going into Saturday." Dale says he is keeping his options open with the son of Not A Single Doubt, which includes several black-type events. "Once we get through Saturday we will assess where we go with him," said Dale. "Two weeks later there is the Concorde Stakes at Randwick over 1000m. There's also a Group race at Moonee Valley the same day and a Listed race over 1200m at Moonee Valley on the same day...so three good options." Dale has always had a healthy opinion of Fell Swoop but says he is reluctant to talk his horses up too much. "I've always been guarded about talking my horses up. He's been a slow maturing horse the whole way through and that's why he's been sparingly raced." He added: "At this stage I definitely think he has black-type ability, I have no doubt about that, but what level he can get too we will just have to wait and see."
