Recorder Wins Gr3 Acomb Stakes

Thursday, 20th August 2015

At York in the UK overnight, former Coolmore shuttler and triple Gr1-winning champion European sire Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) added a Group success when The Queen's 2YO colt Recorder (Galileo-Memory, by Danehill Dancer) scored by 1.25-lengths for trainer William Haggas in the Gr3 Acomb Stakes (7 furlongs) for 2YOs, over 2YO gelding Bing Bang Bong (Big Bad Bob-Dreamaway, by Oasis Dream) & fellow 2YO colt Cymric (Kitten's Joy-Fastbridled, by Unbridled's Song).  This was the first stakes victory for Recorder who took his record to 2 wins and 1 placing from 3 starts for £53,694 earnings. Winning trainer William Haggas commented: "I liked the turn of foot, he quickened up well I thought. I'm absolutely delighted, I'm thrilled to bits. He's a very nice type of horse and Frankie said there was a bit more to come." Recorder is out of the former high-class filly Memory, winner of the Gr2 Cherry Hinton Stakes and Gr3 Albany Stakes. Memory was tested several times in Gr1 company but had a bad habit of not leaving the gates resulting in her never fulfilling her considerable potential.
