Storm The Stars Wins Gr2 Great Voltigeur Stakes

Thursday, 20th August 2015

At York in the UK overnight, 3YO colt Storm The Stars (Sea the Stars-Love Me Only, by Sadler's Wells) registered a well deserved maiden Group victory when scoring by 0.5-length for trainer William Haggas in the Gr2 Great Voltigeur Stakes (12 furlongs) for 3YOs, over fellow 3YO colts and Ballydoyle stable-mates Bondi Beach (Galileo-One Moment in Time, by Danehill) & Giovanni Canaletto (Galileo-Love Me True, by Kingmambo). Storm The Stars, who has been placed several times at Gr1 level this season including in the Epsom Derby behind Golden Horn and the Irish Derby behind Jack Hobbs, took his record to 3 wins (including the Listed Cocked Hat Stakes) and 6 placings from 10 starts for £516,945 earnings.  Trainer William haggas said that Storm The Stars would have his next start in the Gr1 St Leger Stakes at Doncaster on 12 September. "He's tough and hardy, has done extremely well and bounced back very well so that should put him spot on (for the St Leger), not so much physically as mentally," he told Sky Sports.
