Coolmore Prep Run For Super One

Friday, 21st August 2015

Trainer Michael Freedman says that boom Singapore colt Super One (I Am Invincible-Tails Wins, by Tale of the Cat) may have a lead-up run before contesting the Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on 31 October. The Australian-bred 3YO extended his unbeaten record to four when scoring an explosive 5-length win in the Gr3 Juvenile Championship (1200m) at Kranji on 26 July and will now make the trip to Melbourne to take on Australia's best 3YO sprinters in the stallion-making Coolmore Stud Stakes on Derby day. "The Coolmore Stud Stakes is his main target but I may now opt for a lead-up run in the Schillaci Stakes at Caulfield," Freedman said. "It's a weight-for-age Group 2 race which has been increased from 1000m to 1100m and will be run on October 10, which happens to be Caulfield Guineas day." He added: "Then if all goes well, it will be on to the Coolmore and whether he stays for the autumn, we'll see how he goes. I will probably give him a barrier trial here [in Singapore] one week before he enters quarantine, which will be on September 10, 16 days before he departs." Super One, who was recently purchased by Newgate Farm as a future stallion prospect, is set to arrive in Australia on 26 September with the first group of European spring carnival contenders.
