Stay With Me Opens Account

Friday, 21st August 2015

Blue blooded filly Stay With Me (Street Cry-Miss Finland, by Redoute's Choice) showed she was in for a prosperous spring campaign when resuming with a brilliant win at Pakenham racecourse yesterday. Stay With Me, a 3YO daughter of Street Cry and champion filly Miss Finland, proved to be several classes above her rivals when sprinting clear for a most impressive 4.5-length win in a 3YO maiden plate over 1200m. The win was the first of her career after two starts as a juvenile that yielded a second in the Listed Talindert Stakes at Flemington behind subsequent Gr1 winner Pasadena Girl, and a fifth in the Gr2 Reisling Slipper Stakes behind Golden Slipper runner-up English. Co-trainer Tom Dabernig said the Arrowfield Stud-owned filly would now be stepped up to better company with her primary spring goal being the Gr1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on 10 October. "We've always had a high opinion of her. Her two runs as a 2YO were very good and in Sydney she actually did a lot wrong but was only beaten a couple of lengths. She is a lot more mature now and hopefully this prep we can get her to a Thousand Guineas," Dabernig said. "There's a lot of improvement to come so hopefully she can measure up in a better race in a few weeks time." He added: "Miss Finland was a very masculine filly. She was quite extraordinary what she was able to achieve but if this filly can emulate something similar to her mum then we would have a damn good horse on our hands."
