Galileo Adds Ireland Gr2

Monday, 24th August 2015

At the Curragh in Ireland, former Coolmore shuttler and triple Gr1-winning champion European sire Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) added a Group success when 2YO filly Ballydoyle (Galileo-Butterfly Cove, by Storm Cat) scored by 2-lengths for trainer Aidan O'Brien in the Gr2 Debutante Stakes (7 furlongs) for 2YO fillies, over fellow juvenile fillies Minding (Galileo-Lillie Langtry, by Danehill Dancer) & Most Beautiful (Canford Cliffs-Saphira's Fire, by Cape Cross). Ballydoyle took her record to 2 wins and 1 placing (including the Listed Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot) from 4 starts for €68,849 earnings. "She's a very nice filly. She jumped and travelled. I made the running and thought I went a nice even gallop. It was never really in doubt," winning jockey Joseph O'Brien told Sky Sports. "The Moyglare is the obvious race. She has a lot of pace and could came back to six if she had to, but I don't imagine she'll be doing that. She has a big engine." The Gr1 Moyglare Stud Stakes (7 furlongs) for 2YO fillies will be run at the Curragh on 13 September.
