Monday, 24th August 2015

At Royal Randwick in Sydney, Arrowfield Stud's Champion Australian Sire Redoute's Choice (Danehill-Shantha's Choice, by Canny Lad) added a Group success when 6YO mare Royal Descent (Redoute's Choice-Mulan Princess, by Kaapstad) scored by scored by 1.5-lengths for trainer Chris Waller in the $250,000 Gr2 Warwick Stakes (1400m) for 3YO+, over 5YO French-bred gelding Pornichet (Vespone-Porza, by Septieme Ciel) & 7YO gelding Messene (Lonhro-Belle Giselle, by Redoute's Choice). Trainer Chris Waller said Royal Descent was being aimed at the Gr1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Randwick on 3 October with the Gr1 Myer Classic (1600m) in Melbourne another possible option. "I will talk to Gerry Harvey but we'll aim her at the Epsom Handicap and see where we go from there, up in distance or stick to the mile and go to the Myer," Waller said. Passed-in for $340,000 at the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale by her owner-breeder Gerry Harvey, Royal Descent took her record to 5 wins (including the Gr1 Australian Oaks & Gr3 Adrian Knox Stakes) and 12 placings (including the Gr1 ATC Queen Elizabeth Stakes, Gr1 ATC Doncaster Mile & Gr1 Epsom Handicap) from 26 starts for $2,494,780 earnings.
