More Work Ahead For Criterion

Tuesday, 25th August 2015

Criterion's work load will be stepped up on his return from Europe to Australia next month, reports NZ Racing Desk. The New Zealand-bred and owned galloper ran fifth in the Gr1 Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot before finishing sixth in the Gr1 Juddmonte International at York. "More regular racing keeps him a bit calmer pre-race," said David Hayes, who prepares Criterion with his nephew Tom Dabernig. "I think he's a bit above himself at the moment." Criterion is set to run in the $1 million Gr1 Caulfield Stakes on October 10 as a lead-up to his primary spring target, the $3 million Gr1 Cox Plate a fortnight later.
