Yet Another Setback For Cauthen

Tuesday, 25th August 2015

Opaki trainer Andrew Campbell has expressed his frustration at once again losing talented galloper Cauthen to injury, reports NZ Racing Desk. The 5YO by Darci Brahma, who has a win over Cox Plate winner Shamus Award to his credit, was making good progress toward resuming his New Zealand career but will now be forced to miss the spring. "He's done a shoulder again and he'll be out until the spring of next year," Campbell said. "It's really disappointing that he hasn't had a fair go and to show how good he really is, but that's racing and we'll give him the time off and then have one more go." Cauthen exploded onto the scene two years when winning his debut by 8.5-lengths before travelling to Melbourne where he defeated Shamus Award in the Listed McKenzie Stakes at Moonee Valley. However, his career has been curtailed by injury and illness which has restricted him to just 7 starts.
