Bowman To Partner Japonisme

Friday, 28th August 2015

Hugh Bowman has been reunited with smart 3YO Japonisme in tomorrow's $175,000 Gr2 Run To The Rose (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens, reports AAP. Bowman partnered Japonisme when the progressive young sprinter registered the first of his four consecutive wins at Canterbury last month, but has not been aboard since. Tye Angland was the most recent jockey to partner Japonisme when riding him to victory in the Gr3 San Domenico Stakes ten days ago, but has jumped off to continue his association with Gr1-winning colt Press Statement who makes his eagerly awaited return after an unbeaten juvenile season. "He's a better horse than I thought he was, I'll give him credit," Bowman said. "He's an unassuming horse but his turn of foot was there for everyone to see last start against the best two-year-olds around from last year." He added: "It was a dominant win the other day. He's going to have softer conditions this time and he has performed on the soft but judging by his performance the other day he is more effective on top of the ground." A field of seven has been assembled for the 10th running of the Run To The Rose which has produced several Gr1 winners in its short history to date, including Hallowed Crown (2014), Pierro (2012), Denman (2009) and Mentality (2006).
