Regally Bred Coolmore Filly Set For NZ Debut
The Coolmore Stud colours have been successfully carried to victory all around the racing world and the famous navy blue jacket has now come to New Zealand, reports NZ Racing Desk. The global breeding and racing powerhouse will be represented at Ruakaka on Saturday when beautifully bred filly Love Triangle debuts in the New Zealand Bloodstock Airfreight 1200 for trainers Stephen Autridge and Jamie Richards. "It's the first time they have raced a horse outright in New Zealand," Te Akau principal David Ellis said. "John Magnier asked me about 18 months ago to buy them a filly at Karaka and I chose Love Triangle." Purchased for NZ$400,000 at the 2014 NZ Bloodstock Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Cambridge Stud, Love Triangle is by Encosta de Lago out of the Danehill mare Love Diamonds, a daughter of dual Gr1 winner Tristalove who hails from the celebrated family of legendary broodmare Eight Carat. "She's got a beautiful pedigree and she's a gorgeous, well-balanced filly - she's very exciting," Ellis said. "She trialled in the spring as a two-year-old and won really nicely, but we wanted to give her a lot of time and set her for the three-year-old classic races." He added: "She has showed a lot of potential in her track work and we are looking forward to her doing it on race day." Love Triangle won a trial at Te Teko earlier this month to round off her preparation.
