Chelmsford Return For Barman

Tuesday, 1st September 2015

Top New Zealand-bred and owned stayer Who Shot Thebarman (Yamanin Vital-Ears Carol, by Carolingian) is likely to kick off his spring campaign this Saturday in the Gr2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) at Royal Randwick, reports NZ Racing Desk. Last year's Melbourne Cup placegetter is one of 12 horses that trainer Chris Waller has nominated for the $250,000 feature alongside last-start Warwick Stakes winner Royal Descent, Doncaster Mile winner Kermadec, Sydney Cup winner Grand Marshal, and Victoria Derby winner Preferment, among others. Who Shot Thebarman hasn't raced since he finished runner-up to stable-mate Grand Marshal in the Gr1 Sydney Cup in April. The Yamanin Vital gelding has trialled three times since his return from a winter spell. Click here for all Randwick nominations.
