Logan Happy With Volkstok'n'barrell

Tuesday, 1st September 2015

Trainer Donna Logan says she is taking plenty of positives out of Volkstok'n'barrell's performance in Saturday's Gr1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield, despite the 4YO finishing out of the placings for the first time in his career. Last season's Rosehill Guineas ran seventh, beaten just 1.9 lengths, behind the Chris Waller-trained Boban, and is now likely to head to the Gr1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on Saturday week. "He was held up for a while but he hit the line as you'd want him to and when I spoke to Chris [co-trainer Chris Gibbs] this morning he said he felt very bright when he jogged him at the track," Logan said. "He's been licking his bowl clean and we know the improvement is still there, so now we've got to decide where to next." Volkstok'n'barrell is being aimed at the Gr1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on 24 October.
