Sir Rupert Clarke Main Target For Bounding

Wednesday, 2nd September 2015

Co-trainer Peter Snowden has confirmed the Gr1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on 26 September as the primary spring target for top-class Kiwi sprinter Bounding, reports theinformant.co.nz. Formerly prepared by Ken & Bev Kelso in New Zealand, the 5YO Lonhro mare was having her first start for Peter & Paul Snowden when resuming with a brilliant 4-length win in the Gr3 theshark.com.au Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on Saturday. "I spoke to Greg Carpenter [Racing Victoria's chief handicapper] yesterday and he's hinted that the weight he'll give her will be quite acceptable," Snowden said. "I think the race is tailor made for her." he added: "She's in very good order, the run on Saturday didn't worry her at all. I'll keep her here [in Sydney] now and she'll run in the Sheraco on Saturday week. She gets 59 kilos, I'm aware of that, but it's a 1200-metre race in her own back yard. Then it's two and a bit weeks into the Sir Rupert Clarke." The Gr3 Sheraco Stakes (1200m) will be run at Rosehill Gardens on 12 September.
