Stay With Me Impresses In Valley Hit-Out

Wednesday, 2nd September 2015

Beautifully bred filly Stay With Me indicated she was on track for Saturday's Listed Atlantic Jewel Stakes (1200m) after a pleasing gallop at Moonee Valley yesterday, reports Racing.com. "She worked on her own and was a little bit lost coming into the straight but once Dwayne (jockey Dwayne Dunn) picked her up she got to the line with no problems and probably ran one of the fastest last 200m (sectionals) of the morning," said Lindsay Park assistant trainer Gary Fennessy. The 3YO daughter of Street Cry and champion filly Miss Finland made an eye-catching start to her career in the autumn when runner-up to subsequent Gr1 winner Pasadena Girl in the Listed Talindert Stakes at Flemington, before a close-up fifth to English in the Gr2 Reisling Stakes in Sydney. She then returned as a 3YO to record a dominant 4.5-length win in a 1200m maiden at Pakenham 13 days ago. "She's learned a lot since that," said Fennessy. "She's been no hassle at all around the stable, her work has been very good and I think she'll only get better as the distances increase." He added: "She's going very well and I think she could measure up to the better class." The Atlantic Jewel Stakes has received 26 nominations headed by Gr1 winner Pasadena Girl, Gr1-placed Queensland filly Sagaronne, and the talented Petits Filous, who is unbeaten in three starts to date.
