Twilight Son Wins Gr1 Haydock Sprint Cup

Monday, 7th September 2015

At Haydock in the UK, 3YO colt Twilight Son (Kyllachy-Twilight Mistress, by Bin Ajwaad) emerged as the latest star of the British sprinting ranks when scoring by a short head for trainer Henry Candy in the Gr1 Haydock Sprint Cup (6 furlongs) for 3YO+, over fellow 3YO colt Strathburn (Equiano-Irish Light, by Irish River) & 3YO gelding Magical Memory (Zebedee-Marasem, by Cadeaux Genereux). This was the first stakes victory for the exciting Twilight Son who extended his unbeaten sequence to 5 wins from as many starts for £245,674 earnings. Trainer Henry Candy said of Twilight Son: "He's a natural and an incredibly tough horse. He just took time. He's twice the size as he was last year and keeps improving," he told Racing Post. "He might have one more run, with the championship race at Ascot the logical next race and hopefully he'll continue next season." The Gr1 Champions Sprint Stakes (6 furlongs) will be run at Ascot on British Champions Day, 17 October.
