Alaskan Rose Continues To Please
Trainer Mike Moroney has provided an update on boom filly Alaskan Rose as she continues her preparations for next month's Gr1 Thousand Guineas. The daughter of Encosta de Lago is unbeaten in her two starts to date and will step out at Flemington this Friday ahead of her next start in the Gr2 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) at Caulfield on 26 September. "We will give her a jump-out on Friday and then it will be a fortnight until her next race at Caulfield," Moroney told Racing.com. "She keeps improving but that's just natural from the autumn to the spring." He added: "She looks a lot brighter in the coat and she has held her fitness really well, so she's going the right way." Moroney was impressed with the performances of fellow Thousand Guineas hopefuls Stay With Me and Pasadena Girl in Saturday's Listed Atlantic Jewel Stakes at Moonee Valley, but said he was happy to be training Alaskan Rose. "I wouldn't swap her for anything," he said. The Gr1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) will be run at Caulfield on 10 October.
