Bernardini Adds US Gr2

Tuesday, 8th September 2015

At Saratoga racecourse in the US, triple Gr1-winning Darley shuttler & US Eclipse Award-winning stallion Bernardini (A.P. Indy-Cara Rafaela, by Quiet American) added a Group success when 3YO filly Cavorting (Bernardini-Promenade Girl, by Carson City) scored by 3-lengths for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin in the US$300,000 Gr2 Prioress Stakes (6 furlongs) for 3YO fillies, over fellow 3YO fillies Bar Of Gold (Medaglia d'Oro-Khancord Kid, by Lemon Drop Kid) & Fusaichi Red (Fusaichi Pegasus-Gloomy I'm Knot, by D'Wildcat). The Stonestreet Stables-owned Cavorting took her record to 5 wins (including the Gr1 Test Stakes) from 7 starts for US$842,000. "She loves it up here at Saratoga, as we all do, but she's 3-for-3 up here, so this was great," winning trainer Kiaran McLaughlin told Blood Horse. "She was sitting close from the start and there was enough speed up front, so it worked out well. We'll train her up to the Breeders' Cup from here because she likes a little more space between races."
