Fell Swoop To Remain In Melbourne
Canberra trainer Matthew Dale says he is delighted with how talented sprinter Fell Swoop (Not a Single Doubt-Touched in Flight, by Fasliyev) has pulled up from his impressive win in the Listed Cup Club Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on Saturday. "He just keeps winning this preparation as we step him up in grade. He overcame the challenges of first time Melbourne way of going and Moonee Valley, which he wasn't totally comfortable with on the bend, but once he balanced up he was very strong late," Dale told Melbourne's Radio Sport National. Dale is looking at another stakes race in Melbourne in a fortnight for the son of Not A Single Doubt, but said the 4YO would be restricted to a light spring with a view to targeting some of the major sprints in the autumn. "We will hone in on a plan later in the week. It could be as early as a fortnight at Caulfield in a 1200m Listed race," Dale said. "He's pulled up well so far but I will have to see how he is during the week." He added: "At this stage I'm thinking two more runs and then get him out for a break. I'd like to think he can be an Oakleigh Plate horse if he keeps improving."
