Rich Enuff To Strip Fitter In Bobbie Lewis
Victorian trainer Ken Keys has provided an update on the progress of talented sprinter Rich Enuff (Written Tycoon-Hotnuff, by Spartacus) who has been nominated for Saturday's Gr2 Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m) at Flemington. The Gr2-winning and Gr1-placed son of Written Tycoon resumed with a solid performance in the Gr3 Heath Stakes at Caulfield 12 days ago, when finishing runner-up to brilliant New Zealand mare Bounding. Keys says he is expecting significant improvement from Rich Enuff on the weekend, but admits it will be a tough task reversing the form with Bounding. "He's certainly tightened up from that but he'll need to. The winner was pretty impressive and I see she's nominated too. Bounding is an exceptionally good horse, so hopefully he has made the improvement needed," Keys told Melbourne's Radio Sport National. Rich Enuff weighed a massive 580kg leading into his first-up run, and Keys says he will strip fitter on the weekend. "First-up he was just a bit soft - not necessarily unfit, just soft," he said. "We haven't had him on the scales this week but I reckon he's probably tightened up to about 570kg." Keys confirmed that Rich Enuff's primary spring target is the Gr1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on 26 September, but says he still expects his stable star to put in a bold showing on Saturday. "The 1400 metres is where I think he will be most suited, but I think he will run well on Saturday."
