Drayton South Mine Meeting Today
Leading thoroughbred breeding industry figures including Henry Plumptre, Tom Magnier and Vin Cox, will address a Planning Assessment Commission (PAC) public hearing in Denman today, to argue against the proposed Drayton South coal mine, reports ANZ Bloodstock News. Officials from mining giant Anglo American are also due to speak in support of the project. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30am and will conclude tomorrow. Two weeks ago, Anglo American were given preliminary approval by the NSW government's Department of Planning for its controversial Drayton South mine expansion in the Hunter Valley. The proposed location of the mine is situated just 900 metres from two of the world's largest thoroughbred breeding operations, Darley and Coolmore Studs.
