Hayes Bullish About Romance

Friday, 11th September 2015

Co-trainer David Hayes has been excited about Rising Romance (Ekraar-Post Romance, by Postponed) ever since she was transferred to his Lindsay Park stable earlier this year, and after one run back from a spell he feels she is ready to strike in Saturday's Gr1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington, reports horseracing.com.au. The 5YO mare kicked off her spring campaign with an eye-catching sixth behind Boban in the Gr1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield two weeks ago, and Hayes believes she has drawn perfectly to be right in the finish on Saturday. "She was very good first up. She has drawn barrier one, she should get the gun run in the first half a dozen, maybe one row back," Hayes said. "I think it was one of the best losing runs first up, so she has improved a bit since." He added: "I'm going to tip in the hardest race, Rising Romance each way." Rising Romance was previously prepared by Kiwi trainer Donna Logan who guided her to 5 wins from 18 starts, including a victory in the 2014  Gr1 Australian Oaks and a second placing in last year's Gr1 Caulfield Cup.
