Small Field Doesn't Detract From Golden Rose Class

Friday, 11th September 2015

Notwithstanding last season's Champion 2YO Vancouver having gone AWOL for the Spring (see below item), the final field of nine for tomorrow's Gr1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill is brimming with class. Chief protagonist is Exosphere, the stunning looking son of Lonhro returning in last start's Gr2 Run To The Rose (1200m) in the fashion that saw him start one of the Golden Slipper favourites. Hardest to beat will be Gr1 JJ Atkins Stakes winner Press Statement who is likely to relish the extra 200m after finishing runner-up to Exosphere two weeks ago. Having drawn close to the rails, Speak Fondly's star continues to rise off the back of her last two Group wins, and the daughter of Northern Meteor could provide trainer Gai Waterhouse with her first victory in the event.
