Monday, 14th September 2015

At the Curragh in Ireland, 2YO colt Air Force Blue (War Front-Chatham, by Maria's Mon) made it consecutive top-flight victories when scoring an impressive 3-length win for trainer Aidan O'Brien in the Gr1 National Stakes (7 furlongs) for 2YOs, over fellow 2YO colts Herald The Dawn (New Approach-Hymn of the Dawn, by Phone Trick) & Birchwood (Dark Angel-Layla Jamil, by Exceed and Excel). Air Force Blue took his record to 3 wins (including the Gr1 Phoenix Stakes) and 1 placing from 4 starts for €265,105 earnings. Winning jockey Joseph O'Brien said of the US bred colt: "He's a very good horse. He has speed and travels. We were a bit worried about the trip in the ground today but it proved to be no problem," he told Racing Post. "He has pace and travels and I had no worries on him. He's a big scopey horse and we think he's a little bit special."
