Order Of St George Wins Gr1 Irish St Leger
At the Curragh in Ireland, former Coolmore shuttler and triple Gr1-winning champion European sire Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) celebrated a Gr1 success when 3YO colt Order Of St George (Galileo-Another Storm, by Gone West) scored by 11-lengths for trainer Aidan O'Brien in the Gr1 Irish St Leger (14 furlongs) for 3YO+, over 4YO entire Agent Murphy (Cape Cross-Raskutani, by Dansili) & 6YO gelding Wicklow Brave (Beat Hollow-Moraine, by Rainbow Quest). This was a maiden Gr1 victory for the exciting Order Of St George who took his record to 4 wins (including the Gr3 Irish St Leger Trial) and 3 placings from 9 starts for €214,349 earnings. Trainer Aidan O'Brien said the Gr1 British Champions Long Distance Cup at Ascot on October 17 was an option for Order Of St George. "He got the trip really well and travelled very strongly. When Joseph said go he quickened up very well. It's unusual for a horse that stays that well to have that kind of class. He's a very exciting horse," O'Brien told Sky Sports. "We may have a look at the two-mile race at Ascot with him."
