Petits Filous Wins Listed Cap D'Antibes Stakes
At Flemington in Melbourne, US Gr1-winning sprinter & Darley shuttler Street Boss (Street Cry-Blushing Ogygian, by Ogygian) added a black-type when exciting 3YO filly Petits Filous (Street Boss-Excellent Lady, by Exceed and Excel) scored by 2.25-lengths for trainer Ciaron Maher in the $120,000 Listed Cap D'Antibes Stakes (1100m) for 3YO fillies, over fellow 3YO fillies Super Cash (Written Tycoon-Super Bucks, by Dash for Cash) & Take Pride (Reward for Effort-Shabtis, by Elusive Quality). The unbeaten Petits Filous took her record to 4 wins (including the Gr3 Quezette Stakes) from 4 starts for $276,200 earnings. Petits Filous, who is out of a half sister to Gr1 winner La Bella Dama was purchased by Maher for $65,000 at the 2014 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale from the draft of Emirates Park. Trainer Ciaron Maher said Petits Filous was likely to have her next start in the Listed Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on 15 October as her final lead-up to the Gr1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington two weeks later. "She just keeps taking the next step. You never really know how they're going to handle going down the straight the first time but she settled a little better today and put them away pretty easily," Maher told Racing.com. "We'll just see how she pulls up. We paid up a late nomination for the Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m) so she has that option and we might map out a plan into the Coolmore."
