Treve Wins Gr1 Prix Vermeille

Monday, 14th September 2015

Dual Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine Treve (Motivator-Trevise, by Anabaa) is poised to claim an unprecedented third success in Europe's greatest race after producing a stunning display in the Gr1 Prix Vermeille (12 furlongs) at Longchamp overnight. The exceptional 5YO was simply brilliant in running away to score by 4.5-lengths over 3YO fillies Candarliya (Dalakhani (IRE) 2000 out of Candara, by (FR) 2007, by Barathea) & Sea Calisi (Youmzain-Triclaria, by Surumu) in the €350,000 fillies and mares feature. Trainer Criquette Head-Maarek was in awe of her stable star and declared her spot on for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in three weeks time. "Today she was exceptional. I have her back where she was at three, with the same will to win. This is her playground. She loves running right-handed. She comes into the false straight and then all she has to do is quicken," Head-Maarek told Sky Sports. "She is transformed, she has grown, she is a five-year-old and she has retained all her talent. In the false straight she came so easily. It reminded me of the Arc today. But the Arc is going to be a different game, it will be harder than today." She added: "You cannot say she is a sure winner of the Arc, but she has a lot of things going for her. Today she ran exactly like she ran the Arc in 2013. I have never had a horse with that ability, who could quicken that way." Treve took her record to 9 wins (including the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe - twice, Gr1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, Prix de Diane & Gr1 Prix Vermeille) and 2 placings from 12 starts for nearly €6 million in prize money.
