Buffering Wins Brisbane Jump-Out
Star Queensland sprinter Buffering (Mossman-Action Annie, by Anabaa) showed he was in top shape ahead of his spring return in the Gr1 Moir Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley on 2 October with an easy jump-out win at Doomben yesterday morning, reports Racing.com. "I was very happy with him but probably the most enthusiastic report I got from the morning was from Damian [regular jockey Damian Browne], who knows the horse so well," Heathcote said. "We were quite impressed by it and Damian said coming in 'That's exactly where you'd want him going into a 1000m Group 1 in three weeks' time', so we are very happy with him." Heathcote added: "At the end of the day, the most encouraging news is I've still got a sound horse." The 4-time Gr1 winner, who has not raced since finishing fourth behind Aerovelocity in the Gr1 Hong Kong Sprint in December, broke 48 seconds for the 800m hit-out, the fastest time of the morning. "He won the trial by eight or nine (lengths) and he ran some time, he was clearly two, three seconds quicker than any of the other heats of the morning," Heathcote said. Heathcote said Buffering is scheduled to fly down to Melbourne on Monday.
