Gilgai Likely Target For Churchill Dancer

Wednesday, 16th September 2015

Co-trainer Tom Dabernig has provided an update on progressive sprinter Churchill Dancer following his impressive victory in last Saturday's Gr2 Bobbie Lewis Stakes (1200m) at Flemington. Dabernig says the rejuvenated 5YO is likely to have his next start in the Gr2 Gilgai Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on Turnbull Stakes day (Sunday, 4 October). "He's a horse that has been given a bit of time and he's got better with maturity. At the end of his last prep he did have minor knee surgery, which is sometimes a blessing as it forces you to give the horse some time," Dabernig told Melbourne's Radio Sport National. "He has come back and he's definitely gone to another level. Having said that he has always been a very good Flemington straight horse, and he proved that again on Saturday." He added: "He's good as gold. He's back at the farm and we will just keep him ticking along...Probably the 4th [October] at Flemington down the straight again is what we are thinking."
