Arod Team Hoping For Trouble-Free Quarantine
Everything will have to go perfectly to plan for talented UK galloper Arod (Teofilo-My Personal Space, by Rahy) if he is to take his place in next month's Gr1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley, reports At The Races. The Peter Chapple-Hyam trained 4YO missed a scheduled start in last Sunday's Gr1 Prix du Moulin in France due to heavy rain, denying him crucial race fitness before his trip to Australia. The Cox Plate has been on the agenda for the son of Teofilo for some time, but briefly the Qatar Racing team thought they would have to abandon the plan due to quarantine regulations. However, he is able to join the second shipment later this month. "Quarantine starts on September 24," said Qatar Racing's racing manager David Redvers. "It would have been nice to have run in the Moulin before the Cox Plate and on Thursday the weather still looked fine for him. Unfortunately they got a lot of rain and it would have been pointless running him." He added: "The Cox Plate is on October 24 so he comes out of quarantine on the day of the race. That could be brilliant timing, unless there is a hiccup with him or one of the other horses in quarantine."
