Nikolic Barred By VIC Police

Thursday, 17th September 2015

Racing Victoria stewards yesterday confirmed that controversial jockey Danny Nikolic has been barred by Victoria Police from attending all racetracks in the state, reports Racing.com. Nikolic, who has been banned from riding since 2012, was recently informed that under the Racing Act, he is not allowed to step foot on any racetrack in Victoria. Racing Victoria chief steward Terry Bailey confirmed that RV stewards were notified of the order eight days ago. "We were written to by Victoria Police, it was written as a letter addressed to myself dated the 8th of September of the Victorian Police's findings acting under the Racing Act," he said. Bailey said racing officials were obliged to enforce the decision. "It would be no different to someone that's disqualified or warned off under our Rules of Racing, which don't allow them to attend racecourses and between the Integrity Department and race clubs it is policed that way," he said. "And if someone does come onto a racecourse that's disqualified or warned off, or in this case an exclusion order, they'll be asked to leave." Nikolic is expected to appeal the Victoria Police decision.
